It features, among others, a square off between some kick ass Danish bands ( Powersolo / Snake and Jet/ The Breakers) and raging Spaniards (Los Coronas and The Right Ons), a dynamic Australian chick group called The She Creatures, some fantastic Irish boys The Urges, and some U.S. sweethearts Eli Paperboy Reed and the True Loves, Broadfield Marchers, Full Service, and yours truely -- The Hall Monitors. Greetings amigos, The Hall Monitors, just won a spot on the MTV Choose or Lose Tour with Locksley and we're playing on Wednesday, October 22nd at The Launchpad in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We're jet setting! This is interesting because... 1) it's MTV (Choose or Lose, Rock the Vote) 2) it's less than two weeks before the biggest election in your lifetime 3) it's at The Launchpad, the best rock venue in town 4) Locklsey has toured with The Hives and Hanson and have performed live on Jimmy Kimmel and Conan O'Brien 5) This is their (and our) first show in Albuquerque 6) Celebrate Sidsel and Mike's new baby, which fuels the excitement! 7) Show up with a baby present, congratulatory present for the new daddy!! The legendary Buddy Holly was born as Charles Hardin Holley in Lubbock, Texas on September 7th, 1936. It's been 72 years since Buddy entered this world, but his music is as influential today as it was in 1957, when he recorded hits such as "Everyday" and "Peggy Sue" with his first band The Crickets. Tomorrow night, The Hall Monitors and JP McDermott and Western Bop will be celebrating Buddy Holly's birthday at the Surf Club Live!, which happens to be the last standing roadhouse in the DC area (and yes, it's still around). We guarantee that the music will be hoppin' (since Holly's tunes will be included in both bands' sets) and the floor will be jumpin' (as we've learned that the Surf Club crowd has a solid group of swingers - and we're talking about dancing, but we'll leave the rest to your imagination). Before we get back to monitoring halls this fall, the Hall Monitors are kicking off the Labor Day weekend with a rockin' show this Friday, August 29th along with our friends Sugarcane Crawl, Jupiter One (NYC), and JP McDermott and Western Bop at The Rock and Roll Hotel. Doors are at 8:30 (show at 9:00) and tickets are a $10 for this fun 4-band bill.

Howdy y'all, This Thursday, July 31st The Hall Monitors will be warming up the stage at the 9:30 Club for the Chapel Hill's legendary good-timers Southern Culture on the Skids! For those of you who have yet to experience a live SCOTS show - oh boy, you sure are in for it. Their greased-up blend of surf, rockabilly, and garage is likely to unleash your inner hillbilly. So much so, you may end up covered in fried chicken or banana pudding. We're not kidding, either. As an added bonus, our friend Mark Williams (aka The Kaiser) will be spinning some bang-on-the-wall good tunes between sets. Many of you will recognize him from DC Soundclash, Taking the Piss (both at Marx Cafe), and Procedure (which is happening at Saint-Ex this coming Wednesday, btw). The doors for this show open at 7:30, the damage is $15, and the Hall Monitors hit the stage at 8:45. We hope to see you there!
